Airport glitch causes delay

A Federal Aviation Administration computer glitch in Salt Lake City caused about 50 AirTran passengers to spend an extra day in the Tri-Lakes Area this week.

On Thursday, the glitch caused the second AirTran flight out of Branson Airport to be cancelled.

“The first flight came in on time,” said airport spokesman Gene Conrad.

The first flight arrived at the airport at 1:17 p.m. and left at 1:55 p.m. with more passengers than originally expected.

The second flight scheduled to leave at 5:34 p.m. was cancelled, so several passengers from that flight were shifted onto the earlier flight. About 50 passengers had to stay overnight and were flying out Friday.

The glitch, which occurred early Thursday morning, was fixed within hours. However, it caused flight delays and cancellations across the U.S.
